Warere Beach premium Zanzibar travel tours? Also known as Mji Mkongwe, Stone Town is the ancient part of Zanzibar City, which is itself capital of Unguja island. Visit and you’ll get a perfect picture of how the old Swahili trading towns of East Africa look, sound, feel, taste and smell. With Islamic prayer calls on the air and atmospheric winding old alleys redolent of spices at every turn, this settlement is the heart and soul of the island. Admire elegant stone buildings, sip chai and coffee from busy vendors, and eat fresh fish dinners laced with coconut. Stone Town mixes Persian, Arabic, Indian and European legacies to create a destination to remember. Read more details at Warere Beach.

Recommended Zanzibar travel attractions from Warere Beach: One of my favourite things to do in Zanzibar is just to wander around Stone Town, which is the old town of Zanzibar City, the capital of the Zanzibar archipelago. Whether you arrive by air or sea, you’ll pass through the city and I would definitely recommend spending at least two days in Stone Town to soak up the Swahili culture and unique atmosphere. To get the full Zanzibari experience, stay in a real Zanzibari-style hotel. There are tons of great and reasonably priced ones, including this reasonably priced, beachfront hotel which is just a short walk away from Forodhani Gardens, or this seafront hotel, which is really close to the ferry terminal. If you’re looking for somewhere extra special, I’d definitely recommend heading to the Park Hyatt which is set right on the beach, or Emerson Spice, a beautiful and traditional Zanzibari converted merchant’s house.

Excellent Tanzania travel attractions by Warere Beach: The Darajani Market (or Bazaar) is the main bazaar in Stone Town, Zanzibar. It’s the most popular place to come and get spices, dates, bread, fruits, and almost anything you could need. Beyond getting some souvenirs, it’s a fantastic place to soak in the culture. On pleasant evenings at sunset, many young local boys will head to the Stone Town public beach to enjoy the last light of the day with some acrobatics and capoeira. What is capoeira? This is a Brazilian martial art that combines elements of dance, acrobatics, and music. It’s pretty fun to watch from any of the nearby restaurants or on the beach. It’s far from the nicest beach in Zanzibar, but if you are in Stone Town for sunset, this is one of the best things to do in Zanzibar. Look out for the large crowds – these tend to form around some of the most talented boys!

Best rated Zanzibar travel destinations with Warere Beach: People have been living on the island for over 20,000 years, but Stone Town is the central point of Zanzibar. Because of its location off the coast and its sheltered harbor, Stone Town turned from a fishing village into a trading center. The island also was governed by many colonial rulers, from Portugal to Oman to Great Britain, until it became independent in 1963. As a trading center, the island has plenty of cultural influences from colonizers and traders from India and Arab countries. Slavery also affected the island as it was used as a port to send slaves abroad while hundreds of slaves also worked on plantations on the island.

Excellent Tanzania travel tours from Warere Beach: One of my top Zanzibar travel tips is to visit the Forodhani Gardens on at least one night on your trip! Forodhani Gardens refers to a public park in Stone Town. These gardens are set right in front of its most famous buildings, Old Fort and House of Wonders. It’s also sometimes referred to as Jubilee Gardens, Forodhani Park, or just the main town square. The best time to head here is around sunset. You’ll know when you arrive as your senses will be overwhelmed by the fresh grilled seafood. The open-air food market vendors sell mostly Swahili and Zanzibari cuisine, such as samoosas, seafood, and kebabs. Even if you are not hungry, we still recommend heading here as it is one of the best things to do in Zanzibar to experience the local culture. It’s also a very affordable place to eat!
