Improve your memory – Many students struggle to remember all the information they need for exams, and this brings their grades down. With so much to learn across many subjects, remembering facts, figures and arguments is a pretty monumental task, and you need to arm yourself with some effective memory aids to help you. You’ll find more tips on improving your memory in our article on memory techniques for exam preparation. Stop procrastinating – One of the reasons why you’re underperforming could be that you’re spending too much time procrastinating – that is, putting off work by distracting yourself with other things, such as social media. This is a common response to a big workload; when you have so much to do that you don’t know where to start, the temptation is simply not to start. The problem is that in doing so, you’re delaying the inevitable, as well as making your task worse by eating into the time when you could be productive. If you’re guilty of procrastination – and we all are at some point or another – take a look at our article on five reasons we procrastinate and how to stop it.
Your grades might be suffering because of your study style. Everybody has their own way to study—some people like some music in the background while some need it to be totally quiet, for instance. If you’re having trouble retaining what you’re learning, switch up your study area and see if that makes a difference! Try studying in a different room, for instance, or head to the library and see if you prefer that. Pay attention to what distracts you while you’re studying. Do you find yourself shifting in your chair a lot? It might help if you move to the couch. Does your sister always try to talk to you while you’re doing your homework? You might ask your mom if you can lock your door while you study.
The time investment that this type of evaluation method requires of teachers/professors is likely not viable on university campuses with hundreds of students per course. As such, although there are other high schools such as Sanborn High School that approach grading in a more qualitative way, it remains to be seen whether such grading methods can be scalable. Until then, more generalized forms of grading like the letter grading system are unlikely to be entirely replaced. However, many educators already try to create an environment that limits the role that grades play in motivating students. One could argue that a combination of these two systems would likely be the most realistic, and effective way to provide a more standardized evaluation of students, while promoting learning.
Type in the grades you’ve received, along with the weights they’ll have in the determination of your overall average. Then, if you want, fill in one or both of the fields embedded in the questions marked ‘ OPTIONAL:’. After you press ‘Compute’, the results will show your average so far, as well as the answer(s) to any question(s) whose embedded fields you filled in. What is the plus and minus grading scale and how does it affect my GPA? This is a question I’m often asked by students, so I have written a short paper to demonstrate how I determine minimum percentages when using the plus and minus grading scale.
How to Get Good Grades?
